Sarah Wilson recently took on the challenge of completing her Cook to Cook expedition: to climb Mt Cook, cycle 770 km to the top of the South Island and kayak across Cook Strait. Sarah’s first attempt, in 2011, ended badly when she survived an avalanche that nearly killed her (see The Climber issue 79). This summer Sarah returned to the mountain and climbed to within a whisker of the summit before going on to complete the cycling and kayaking legs of the journey. Sarah sent us in the following report on her adventure:
